Using TrueCrypt on a Windows 7 PC

I’ve been using TrueCrypt on both my PCs – a laptop and a desktop – for about 4 months. I was hesitant to start using it in case something went horribly wrong and I lost all my data, or in case there were simply unforeseen situations which caused problems.

However, I’m happy to report that it feels almost invisible. I obviously get a password prompt when I turn the machine on, but other than that, it feels absolutely normal. There are no noticeable slow downs, errors, missing files, slow transfers or anything else.

I appreciate it seems like this post is a little useless, but the message is that TrueCrypt seems to do exactly what it says on the tin, and seems to do so very well.

I should point out that I’ve not physically checked if my data is encrypted and I opted for full disk encryption.
